HB 497 Report on Medicaid Funding

House Bill 497, passed by the 81st Texas Legislature, directed the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and the Texas Department of Insurance to study the impact on state health care systems if the Medicaid program is abolished or if the amount of federal funding for the program is severely reduced. The report found that the current trajectory of Medicaid spending is unsustainable and requires significant reform at the federal level.  [HB 497 Report]

HHS Strategic Plan for 2011-15 Available

The Health and Human Services System has released its Strategic Plan for the years 2011-2015. This Strategic Plan assesses the economic, demographic, and legislative environment in which the five state agencies within the Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) system will operate during the plan period.
